The 4th international conference on functional materials sciences was jointly several top universities in Indonesia and RIKEN Nishina center.
There are 29 invited speakers from Indonesia, Japan, United Kingdom, Singapore,
Thailand, and China. This conference promotes collaborative research of the
Indonesian researcher on the materials science and physics with the researcher from
Institutions/Universities from Asia and Europe. This one is very important to enhancing
the research output from the Indonesian researcher and adopt the research culture
from the worldwide.
I enjoyed so much the talk and lecture from the invited speakers who are theorist
and experimentalist. I learned from them how think carefully physical phenomena to
explain the experimental result and how they search new system/materials as platform
to understand and prove their theories.
In this conference, I presented my Ph.D project in muon spin resonance (μSR)
and density functional theory (DFT) study of the magnetic and electronic properties of
the mother compound of the high-Tc superconductor, YBa2Cu3O6. The presentation
format was short oral presentation to introduce my research and poster presentation
for the further discussion.
During my poster presentation, several scientists visited my poster. I would like to
mention some of them. The first one is Prof. Ariando from National Singapore
University. His comment was very valuable to consider comparison my results with
the neutron diffraction results. The second one was Prof. Andrivo who are also from
National. Because I emphasized the importance the covalency effect in the undoped
system, he suggested to calculate the doping system which lead to the Zhang-Rice
singlet formation that is very important concept to understand the nature of the high-
Tc superconductor.I got best poster presentation price in this Conference.
In this conference, I also got many new friends and introduce myself to some
researchers. I believe that this will be very useful for future carrier in Indonesia and to
collaborate in the future.
Indonesia has very rich for the natural material resources including zirconia,
magnetite sand, nikcle, gold, etc. This provide many opportunities of Indonesian
researcher to find out the new functional material from the natural resources. The
communication and discussion with researchers from Asia and Europe will help
Indonesian researcher to transfer and exchange technology and science from
overseas.
Bali is one the most tourist destination in the world. It provides the ancient culture
wit combination with the beautiful natural landscape. It is also famous for the warm
hospitality of local people. There many famous beaches in Bali including seminyak,
kuta, sanur and Jimbaran. During my stay in Bali, I enjoyed the sunrise in the morning
in Sanur beach and the dinner with sunset view at Jimbaran beach. I also enjoyed the
Kecak dance which is very famous traditional dance in Bali and performed during the
sunset.
Attending International conference is very important to communicate our research
and discuss with other scientists from around the world. It also helps a lot to increase
the English communication skill. Moreover, the comments and inputs from the other
scientist with different perspective is very useful to think carefully the physical
phenomena that we study.
