Recent development of Astrophysics research:
The Space telescope and space observatories from X-ray, gamma ray , ultraviolet to Infrared wave length discover many interesting features of the universe. Especially, the COBE observatory has discovered the fluctuation of temperature of cosmic background radiation.
various features of the universe:
Due to the development of observations, various features of the universe are being opened. For example, X-ray from clusters of galaxies which are largest dynamically equilibrium objects in the universe, activities of massive black holes in galactic centers, star formation in giant molecular clouds.
researches in our group:
observational study:
we study active galaxies by using the 188cm optical telescope in the Okayama astrophysical observatory and the 45m radio telescope in the Nobeyama radio observatory.
theoretical study:
We study evolution of X-ray clusters formed by non-linear evolution of initial density fluctuation and mass supply process to galactic central region, structure formation due to resonances between gas motion and non axis symmetric gravitational potential component, star formation due to cloud cloud collisions, self-gravitational collapse of interstellar cloud and infrared emission from supernova remnants. In these study, we use the super computer in our university and the GRAPE board which is the special purpose hard ware for self-gravity calculation. These computers are very fast and useful for numerical calculations in the astrophysics. We study radiation hydrodynamics in astrophysics.
