Fine Structure Constant and High Precision Test of Quantum Physics

- 要旨： The
fine structure constant a=m0ce 2/2h is proportional to
the square of electron charge e and represents the strength of
basic electromagnetic interaction. Since e (and hence a) is a very
common object, it can be measured in a large variety of phenomena. All
measurements of a must be inherently quantum-mechanical since it contains the
Planck’s constant h. Very precise value of a has been obtained
from ac Josephson effect, quantum Hall effect, various atomic spectra, de
Broglie wavelength of neutron and some atoms, single electron tunneling,
and electron anomalous magnetic moment. This enables us to compare
theories and measurements of diverse phenomena on equal footing in terms
of the a’s they produced. In this talk I will survey best measurements
of a available and discuss their possible improvement as well as
their implication to fundamental physics.
