  • 要旨: I present a summary of several ongoing projects concerned with the kinematics and dynamics of metal-poor stars in the Milky Way galaxy, and with the evolution of elemental abundances as studied by high-resolution spectra of extremely metal-deficient stars. A snapshot of the rapidly growing database of information is used to provide clues to the formation of the various known structural components of the Milky Way (inner halo, outer halo, metal-weak thick disk, thick disk, bulge, thin disk). We also present new results from the first Large-N, high signal-to-noise, high-resolution survey of stars in the Galaxy with [Fe/H] < -2.5, and suggest how one might accelerate the identification of the most interesting and important metal-poor stars, such as those with large r-process overabundances that can be used for cosmo-chronometry.
