  • 題目:A Frontier of Modeling Galaxy Formation: Active Galactic Nuclei and Supermassive Black Holes

講演要旨:Active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and supermassive black holes (SMBHs) have been considered to play important roles on galaxy formation and evolution. Most galaxies harbor SMBHs, thus the SMBHs are ubiquitous objects in the Universe. On the other hand, AGNs are very rare whereas they created by SMBHs accreting gas triggered by galaxy mergers. This fact means that in order to understand galaxy formation we need to follow such rare events as gas accretion onto SMBHs which leads to the AGN activity. We have developped a semi-analytic galaxy formation model, ν2GC, based on a high-resolution N-body simulation with a wide area. This model is thus adequate for treating such rare events. I will talk on the current status and some results on the model and on the prospects of galaxy formation research.
