Abstract:
Condensed-matter physics and particle physics take place at a totally different energy scales. From the viewpoint of topology, however, the theoretical formula of these phenomena represents the universality of mathematical structure. In 2004, the quantum Hall effect of massless Dirac fermions in graphene was discovered. This is one example that enables the pursuit of the universality of topology in a bench-top experiment.
We focus on topology in chiral superconductors that is a candidate for Majorana fermions in solid, where a particle is identified as its own antiparticle. They are not known whether or not existing in nature. In this seminar, I will talk the observation of parity-violating current-voltage characteristics in a chiral superconductor Sr2RuO4. I will also suggest the excitation of the Majorana fermions to understand the physical origin of the anomalous curves.
