Overview:

The International Symposium on New Trends of Physics will be held from March 1st to 2nd, 2005. The symposium is organized by the Division of Physics, Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University. The aim of the symposium is to increase the mutual communications of scientists representing various areas of basic and applied Physics. In the 4 th symposium, the following subjects will be discussed:

  • Recent Advances in Astrophysics and Planetary Science
    - from early universe to the Solar system -

Recent observations on Cosmic Microwave Background radiation by WMAP, distant galaxies, molecular clouds, interstellar dust and star formation in our Galaxy, isotopic anomaly in the Solar system give us interesting information on evolution of matter and structures in the universe from early universe to the present solar sytem.

    - first generation stars, nucleosynthesis, dust formation, heating and ionization of universe
    - formation and evolution of galaxies in distant universe
    - dust in our Galaaxy and galaxies
    - molecules and star formation in our Galaxy
    - isotopic anomaly in the Solar system
    - origin of matter in the Solar system
    - e t c .
Aim of the symposium is to try to clarify whole picture of matter evolution in the universe.

All manuscripts are preferably submitted by an e-mail with attached document of PDF, WORD or printable PostScript file. The manuscript should have each space of 2 cm of each side (up, down, left and right) margin for the A4 size (i.e., area of the text is 16cm x 24cm). The title, author names, affliction and abstract should be included. The title is written with bold type font with 14 point and others are by 12 point font. The text should be written with single column with 10-12 point of times new roman (or similar) font. Figures with a proper size and references are also included in the manuscript.

    Travel

There are several choices to reach Sapporo. The most convenient way is to arrive at Chitose (Sapporo) international airport. In this case, however, international air flights are limited (Only Korian airline or Cathey airline is available). Arriving at Narita airport or at Kansai airport will be a reasonable choice.

After arriving at Narita (Tokyo) international airport, please (1) take a domestic flight at Narita airport for Sapporo, or (2) move to Haneda airport by limousine bus (110 minutes), and take a domestic flight at Haneda airport for Sapporo.

Arrival at Kansai (Osaka) international airport, and change to a domestic flight at the same airport to Sapporo.

At Chitose (Sapporo) airport, participants are recommended to take a JR railroad train to Sapporo Station (Airport Express, 40 minutes), then you can arrive at the Aspen hotel in only 3 minutes walking. Our staff will take care of foreign participants at the JR railroad station.
